President Ann Marie Murray
Dr. Ann Marie Murray is the third president of Herkimer County Community College, effective August 11, 2008.
Dr. Murray previously served as vice president for academic affairs at Broome Community College, a post she held from 2005-2008. In that capacity, she was responsible for the oversight of all of the academic programs and functions of the college, including schools of business, liberal arts and human services, and applied science, continuing education, international education, learning resource center, teaching resource center, and online learning. She also has held the positions of dean of business and engineering and industrial technologies, associate dean of academic services, department chair for mathematics and science and engineering science, and program director for the FIPSE dissemination grant at Hudson Valley Community College. She also taught mathematics at Hudson Valley Community College from 1982 to 2001.
SUNY Board of Trustees Chairman Carl T. Hayden said, "Herkimer County Community College recently celebrated 40 years of service to families and businesses in the Mohawk Valley, where the campus provides accessible and affordable education and training to thousands of students each year. I am very confident that the search committee has found the ideal candidate to carry on the Herkimer tradition. On behalf of the Board and SUNY System Administration, I also wish to thank Ron Williams for his long and esteemed service as the campus' president."
Interim SUNY Chancellor Dr. John B. Clark said, "Dr. Murray's wealth of experience in the community college sector - particularly at two of SUNY's strongest campuses - is certain to bring great benefit to HCCC students, faculty and staff as well as the surrounding community. It has been my pleasure to recommend that this appointment and I commend the Board of Trustees at SUNY for naming Dr. Murray to this important position."
Dr. Murray said, "I am very thankful to the SUNY Board of Trustees for their confidence in my ability to serve Herkimer County Community College as its third president. I look forward to working with the students, faculty, staff and trustees, as well as the community, to meet the challenges of moving this fine institution into the future."
The Herkimer County Community College Board of Trustees conducted a national search to identify an individual to serve as President of Herkimer County Community College. A search committee which was representative of all major college constituencies recommended seven candidates to the Board of Trustees and those candidates visited the campus and were interviewed by the Board of Trustees. Three finalists were selected and interviewed by the board and other members of the campus community. Subsequently, the Herkimer County Community College Board of Trustees adopted a resolution appointing Dr. Ann Marie Murray as President.
