Herkimer Women's Lacrosse
The Program
The women's lacrosse program is led by Dianna Ste-Marie who took over as head coach in the fall of 2007 after serving as an assistant coach for one year. The program was established in 2004 under the leadership of Paul Wehrum who had previously coached the men's lacrosse team. In 2006, Wehrum retired from Herkimer after 27 years of teaching and coaching lacrosse at HCCC. Brandi Ostrander ('05) served as head coach for the 2007 season.

In only four years, the program has won two Region III championships, twice placed third in the NJCAA national championship tournament, and was named NJCAA Academic Team of the Year four times.

The Generals won their first Region III championship in 2005 with a record of 12-1 and set a national record with 14 student-athletes named Academic All-Americans. The 2006 team earned 13 victories, a Region III championship, 16 Academic All-Americans, and was named NJCAA Academic All-American Team of the Year. With a record of 13-1, the Generals' only loss was to CCBC Catonsville in the NJCAA semi-finals. Sixteen players on the 2006 team were named Academic All-Americans by the National Junior College Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association, the largest number to receive this award in the history of the program.
