Herkimer Women's Tennis

The Program

HCCC Women's Tennis has been a strong presence within the Region under the leadership of former coaches: Tom Lapuma, Paul Wehrum and Jason Cooney. Current Coach Katie Scanlon hopes to continue this tradition of excellence. The women's tennis program has captured three Regional Championships (1994, 1995, and 2001) and four second place finishes (1997, 1999, 2000, and 2007), while compiling a 95-40 record since 1991. The team has made five NJCAA national appearances: 1991 (individual qualifier S. Sjaardema), 1992 (individual qualifier S. Sjaardema), 1994 (team) and 1995 (team) in Tucson, Arizona, and 2001 (team) in Houston, Texas.

2008 Season Preview

Coach Katie Scanlon hopes to have another successful year with combination of experienced returners and a talented incoming group.

Herkimer's singles and doubles line up will be led by returner Jessica Beauvais who captured the 2007 Region III championship at second doubles and was named 1st team All-Region. Also returning from the 2007 starting line-up is Lori Tomanek from Waterloo, NY.

Newcomers going head to head for starting positions are: Emily Dillard of Herkimer, Sarah Dorosz of Liverpool, Robyn Hesse of Cortland, Sierra Houck and Marissa Morton of Sidney, and Lindsay Roth of Ilion.

The 2008 team includes quite a few women with equal talent and ability which will ensure a great deal of depth and a strong lower end of the lineup.
