Women’s soccer stays undefeated against Jayhawks

HERKIMER, NY – The best offense in the nation continued their dominance on Saturday (9/5), netting six more unanswered goals at Wehrum Stadium to defeat Jamestown Community College 6-0, outscoring opponents 32-0 throughout four regular season games.

#2 Herkimer (4-0-0) scored four times in the first half on goals by four different players. Michaela Bianca (Guilderland, NY) got the scoring started in the first minute after teammate Teigha Ward (Ilion, NY) found the sophomore on the right of the net, inside the 18, kicking the ball in the top-left of the next for the 1-0 lead. It was Ward’s first of three assist in the game.

Giving the Generals a two goal advantage 19 minutes later was Saige Hampston (Poland, NY). It was her second goal of the season off another Ward assist.

Netting goals in the 23rd and 39th minute to close out the first half scoring were Nicole Doolen (Ilion, NY) and Chelsea Corrow (Bennington, VT). Doolen scored her second goal of the season unassisted while Corrow needed an assist from Bianca to net her first goal as a General.

Bianca and Doolen added to their first half totals in the 78th and 81st minute. Bianca scored on Ward’s third assist, while Doolen used a pass from Kalli Warmingham (Newport, NY) for a multiple goal effort against the Jayhawks.

In goal on Saturday was Sydney Stanley (Schoharie, NY). The sophomore didn’t save a shot en route to her fourth shutout of the season.

Herkimer will finish out the weekend with a game against Finger Lakes Community College on Sunday (9/6). The Lakers will travel to play the #2 Generals at Wehrum Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. The Lakers are 1-1 and coming off a 3-0 win over conference rival Hudson Valley.
