President's Message regarding fall re-opening plans
Late last week, Governor Cuomo announced that guidance for campuses to follow in re-opening for the fall semester would be issued soon: "New York State is issuing guidance to colleges and universities that are planning September (fall) re-openings. We are asking them to develop plans. We still need more data between now and September to make a definitive determination, but we want to make sure we’re starting to prepare."
Campuses will need to make clear in their re-opening plans how they will meet the set of requirements identified by the Governor’s office for allowing on-campus residential living, and face-to-face instruction, among other operational considerations. These plans must be submitted to SUNY Administration before any final determination can be made in regard to a campus re-opening for the fall semester. "Key Considerations" that must be included in each campus’s submission include: Reopening, Containment, Monitoring, and Shutdown plans.
Please be assured that we will be keeping our Herkimer campus community up to date as more information and guidance becomes available to us from SUNY and from the Governor’s office.
Cathleen C. McColgin, Ph.D.
President
