Dr. Robert Campo

For developing and overseeing all student services at Herkimer College and modeling the student-centered approach to student services well before this became the standard in higher education. 

As dean of students from 1969 to 1990, Dr. Campo was responsible for establishing and supervising the college Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar’s, and Student Activities offices; veterans’ services; and personal, career and transfer counseling services. Dr. Campo was known for his strong focus on identifying students’ needs and developing services accordingly to best meet those needs. Dr. Campo had the ability to see the strengths in individuals, both students and staff, and knew how to encourage and guide them on the path toward realizing their fullest potential.
