Joan Prymas

Secretary

Joan Prymas, of Ilion, was originally appointed to the Board of Trustees on August 11, 2015 by Governor Andrew Cuomo. She was reappointed by Governor Kathy Hochul on March 20, 2024 to a second term to expire on June 30, 2025. Ms. Prymas has served as secretary of the Board of Trustees since April 2021.

Ms. Prymas retired from Herkimer College in 2004 at the rank of professor, after more than 30 years of teaching mathematics. She subsequently was awarded emeritus status. Ms. Prymas holds a BA in Mathematics Education, MA in Mathematics and MS in Educational Administration from SUNY Albany. She is a member of the SUNY Retiree Services Corps and a member at large on the executive team of the NYSUT Retiree Council 39.
