General Education Requirements
A strong foundation for an exceptional education.
Each Herkimer College associate degree program has a level of general education requirements that need to be satisfied.
Community college students in A.A. and A.S. programs must complete a minimum of one course in seven of the ten general knowledge areas. Students in A.A.S. programs are encouraged to select electives to complete as many knowledge areas as possible.
The general education knowledge areas are:
- Math
- Natural Science
- Social Science
- American History
- Western Civilization
- Other World Civilizations
- Humanities
- Arts
- Foreign Language
- Basic Communication
Many of these knowledge areas are built into all associate degree programs.
