Students study the basic principles of statics and structural mechanics; how load forces and moments of inertia affect axial, shearing and bending stresses; deflections of structural and machine members by measurement of tension, compression, shear, percent of reduction and elongation of materials. Prerequisite: EG 230 Statics. Note: Offered Spring semesters only. Formerly SC 230.
