James N. Walczak is a physical therapist and certified wound specialist and is Director of the Outpatient Physical Therapy Department at Folts Homes in Herkimer. Having created the department in 2009, Walczak implemented treatments for orthopedic, neurologic and soft tissue disorders, and wound care for outpatients of all ages. Previously, Walczak was Director of Rehabilitation Services for Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Little Falls Hospital and Herkimer Memorial Hospital where he provided administrative guidance for all aspects of rehabilitation, including physical, occupational and speech therapies. Walczak graduated from Herkimer High School and served in the United States Marine Corps until 1970. He then earned an A.S. degree from Herkimer College and continued his education at Upstate Medical Center, receiving his B.S. degree in 1975. Walczak is a board certified wound specialist and a fellow of the American College of Certified Wound Care Specialists. In 2008, he received the Long Term Care Employee of Distinction Award from the New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. Walczak is a member of the American Academy of Wound Management, American Academy of Pain Management and New York State Federation of Long Term Care. He is an adjunct instructor and a member of Herkimer College’s Physical Therapist Assistant program’s Advisory Committee. He is also a trustee of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk, and an active member in the Marine Corps League, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, VFW and the Herkimer Polish Community Home. Walczak and his wife Linda Lynch Walczak have three children—Jamie, Allison and Leigh.
