Mohawk native Leslie Keno earned an A.A. degree from Herkimer College with a Museum Assistant emphasis, and holds a B.A. degree in American Art, with honors, from Williams College. He is senior vice president and director of the American Furniture and Decorative Arts department at Sotheby’s in New York City, where he has been employed since 1980.

Throughout his career, Keno has been responsible for several record sales of American furniture sold at auction, including a silver mounted mahogany secretary which sold in 1999 for $8.25 million, the highest price for a piece of furniture ever sold by Sotheby’s. Keno lectures extensively and appears on the PBS series Antiques Roadshow.
