Women’s Swimming & Diving captures ninth at nationals

BUFFALO, NY – In a four day national meet held at Flickinger Athletic Center in Buffalo, NY last week, the Herkimer Generals women’s swimming & diving team fared well, placing ninth overall thanks to four Top 10 finishes.

Herkimer captured each of their top finishes in relays. The combination of Hannah Watts (Norwich, NY), Victoria Bemiss (Canaan, NY), Erin Hutchison (Macedon, NY) and Corinne Richer (Clinton, NY) placed seventh, eighth and ninth. The seventh place finish came in the 800 yd. Freestyle Relay, posting a 9:53.05. Two eighth place finishes came in the 200 yd. and 400 yd. Freestyle Relay, posting a 2:00.95 and 4:32.19 respectively. The ninth place finish came in the 400 yd. Medley Relay, posting a 5:08.12.

After relays, the Generals had four Top 15 individual performances. Both Richer and Hutchison did it in the 200 yd. Freestyle, 1650 yd. Freestyle, 200 yd. Breaststroke and 200 yd. Butterfly. Richer placed 15^th in the 200 yd. Freestyle (2:17.69) and 13^th in the 200 yd. Butterfly (2:51.83) while Hutchison placed 14^th in the 1650 yd. Freestyle (22:10.09) and 14^th in the 200 yd. Breaststroke (2:59.76).
