Conference and Regional Player of the Year honors for Ward

HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer Generals women’s soccer player Teigha Ward was selected by her peers as both Mountain Valley Conference and Region III Player of the Year, helping the Generals to a fourth place finish nationally in 2015.
Ward – an Education: Physical Education major at Herkimer College – was second in the nation in goals and seventh in assists, playing in 18 games for Herkimer this fall. A big portion of those 27 goals came in the team’s opener against Bergen, defeating the Bulldogs 13-0 behind seven goals from Ward. Added to that, the forward had three hat tricks and five multiple goal efforts, netting goals in every game but four against the competition. All her offensive success led to 65 points which was also second in the nation.
“It’s an honor to have a field player of our recognized as both conference and regional player of the year,” said Head Women’s Soccer Coach Ryan Brooks-Newton. “Teigha has been consistent for us throughout, always finishing when given the opportunity. She accumulated 50 goals in two seasons. It’s an impressive accomplishment!”
