Grace Johnson Earns a Hat Trick over Genesee Cougars

Sophomore midfielder Grace Johnson (Tully, NY) was the catalyst the Herkimer Generals needed to take the win over the Genesee Cougars Saturday afternoon.  The Herkimer Generals and Genesee Cougars were at a stalemate the entire first half.  Herkimer out shot Genesee 8-5 in the first half, but neither team could find the back of the net.  The second half however was much more exciting and included an eleven minute spree of goals.  At the 67th minute #15 Hannah Taylor (St. Johnsville, NY) assisted #10 Grace Johnson with her first goal of the game which put Herkimer up 1-0.  Less than two minutes later #13 Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY) assisted Johnson with her second goal which brought Herkimer to a 2-0 lead.  Genesee fought back as they scored their one and only goal of the game at the 75th minute which brought the score to 2-1.  Johnson scored the final goal of the hat trick only three minutes later which finalized the game Herkimer up 3-1.  The Generals now turn their focus to their final game of the regular season as they travel to Finger Lakes Community College Tuesday (10/18) at 4 p.m.
