Capaldo, Blair pace # 1 Herkimer to win over Hudson Valley

Herkimer, NY - Fresh off of a sweep of a 2 game Western New York road trip over the past weekend, the # 1 ranked Herkimer Generals returned home on Wednesday afternoon and defeated the Hudson Valley Hawks by a score of 5-0 in Mountain Valley Conference action at Wehrum Stadium. With the win, the top ranked Generals moved to 11-0 on the season and 4-0 in the Conference.

Shemar Blair (Brampton, Ontario) opened the scoring for Herkimer with the first of his two goals on the afternoon, giving the Generals a 1-0 lead with 14:34 left in the first half. Chris Capaldo (Smithtown, NY) and Tarik Moussaoui (Oslo, Norway) scored 1:25 apart late in the first period to give the Generals a 3-0 lead at the half. Capaldo scored his second goal of the game early in the second half and Blair's second goal closed out the scoring with 34 minutes remaining. Mupenzi Irakiza (Syracuse, NY) and Ryheim Hinds (Bridgeport, CT) each added an assist for the Generals.  Aubrey Lowe (Toronto, Ontario) and Julio Gomes (Bedview, South Africa) split the time in goal to combine for Herkimer's 9th shutout in 11 games.

The Generals continue their home stretch with a game against SUNY Broome, coached by Herkimer alum Chris Riley. Game time for Saturday at Wehrum Stadium is set for 3:00 PM.
