Cloonan, Debeatham earn February Green and Gold Honors

HERKIMER, NY—Herkimer County Community College has announced its Green and Gold Athletes for the month of February. They are women’s basketball player Alexandra DeBeatham (Menands, NY) and men’s bowler Tim Cloonan (Clay, NY).

DeBeatham, a sophomore guard, scored in double figures in all eight games the Generals played in February, including a career-high 29 against Fulton-Montgomery on February 5. She also shot 55 percent for the month from 3-point range and was named the Region III Female Athlete of the Week early in the month.

“Lexi finished her career here on a high note and she led the program to new heights, including an 18-5 record and a trip to the Regional Final Four,” said head coach Gabe Coffey. DeBeatham was also named to the First Team All-Conference and Second Team All-Region for 2019-2020.

Cloonan, a freshman, averaged 209.4 for the month and was named to the 2020 All Conference and All Region Teams. At the Region III Championships on February 22, he finished fifth in the All Events.

“Tim has been one of our most consistent bowlers all season long, and his hard work paid off with spots on the All-Region and All-Conference teams,” said coach Tony DeLuca. “We’re extremely proud of Tim and the dedication he put into the sport this year.”
