Herkimer College reduces on-campus staff numbers; others move to remote work

Herkimer College will be following the directive of New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo and moving to a smaller staff of essential personnel on campus. This change goes into effect at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17. All other employees will work remotely until further notice. 

Essential functions that will remain on campus — though in limited capacity — include mail reception, campus safety, facilities, information technologies, residence life and food service.

The College’s Executive Council will be meeting remotely on a daily basis to ensure a coordinated effort to serve and support our students and keep the work of the College moving forward. 

“Despite having a smaller physical presence on campus, I want to assure students that we will be available for support, advisement and guidance throughout the remainder of the semester,” said Herkimer College President Cathleen McColgin. “I thank you for your continued patience, understanding and flexibility. My thoughts are with you and your families in hopes that you stay safe and healthy.”
