Herkimer College donates PPE to local hospital, police departments
Herkimer County Community College is standing with its local hospitals and law enforcement agencies in the fight against COVID-19 by donating unused personal protection equipment.
The College recovered approximately 180 boxed N95 respirator masks from its science and criminal justice – forensic investigations classrooms, along with about 40 Tyvek PPE suits. The N95 is suggested for medical professionals by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Several boxes of rubber gloves were also among the donations.
The donations were delivered to Bassett Health Center in Herkimer, along with the Herkimer Police Department and the Mohawk Police Department.
Now that courses have transitioned to distance learning, members of Campus Safety as well as faculty and staff at Herkimer College will continue to sort through stored items in an effort to continue to help the community at large.
