Herkimer College softball coach PJ Anadio collects 400th win

HERKIMER, NY—Herkimer College softball coach PJ Anadio has collected his 400th win with the Generals.

The milestone came after a 12-4 win over Jefferson Community College on Friday, May 14 in Game 1 of the 2021 Region IIIB Championship Series. Anadio earned his landmark win in just under 11 seasons of coaching at the College, averaging over 36 wins per season in that time while accumulating an overall record of 401-79.

Anadio, a native of Gloversville, NY, coached the Generals to a National Championship title in 2013, and his teams have finished in second place five times at the Division III National Tournament. Anadio has earned the softball program nine Region III Titles, 10 Mountain Valley Conference Championships, and has coached 30 All-Americans during his tenure at the College. His teams have placed in the National Poll every year since 2012.

Anadio was named Mountain Valley Conference Coach of Year seven times and Region III Coach of the Year three times, and he and his staff were recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as the National Staff of the Year in their 2013 Championship season.

This year’s Generals softball team is currently 22-4 and ranks No. 4 in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll. Herkimer College has qualified for the 2021 NJCAA Division III Softball National Championships, which will take place at Carrier Park in Syracuse, NY, from May 27 to May 29.
