Generals Dominate Vikings in Mountain Valley Win

Herkimer NY-Wednesday evening the Herkimer Generals hosted Mountain Valley opponent, the Hudson Valley CC Vikings. The game stayed tied until 5 minutes before the first half when Freshman Sarah Eastwood (Herkimer, NY) notched the first goal of the game and the first goal of her college career. Eastwood was assisted by fellow Freshman Mackenzie Magnusson (Verona, NY) to put the Generals up 1-0 going into the break.

National assist leader, Freshman Hailey Traut (Frankfort, NY) took over for the Generals in the second half. She fired home her first goal of the day from 25 yards out after a short clearance from the opposing Goalkeeper into the empty net. Later on Traut broke away and pounded her second goal of the day, assisted by Freshman Natalie Little (Whitesboro, New York).

Freshman Goalkeeper’s Kurstin Guy (Herkimer, NY) and Isabella Smith (Newport, NY) combined for the shutout for the Generals who only allowed 4 shots on goal for the day.

The Generals improve to 6-1 on the season and are back in action next Wednesday (9/29) when they welcome conference rival Mohawk Valley CC Hawks for a 4:30 start at Paul Wehrum stadium.
