Generals Split the Weekend

Herkimer NY- The Herkimer Generals women’s basketball team took on Broome CC Hornets Saturday and the MVCC Hawks on Sunday.

 The Generals went down 10-23 in the first quarter but had good 2nd and 3rd quarters to tie the game up at the end of the 3rd quarter 49-49. Broome was able to pull out the win, downing the Generals 68-64.

The Generals were led by Nazjae Howard, Kapri Bradshaw and Jenna Faulkner. Howard scored 16 points, 20 rebounds and 1 block. Bradshaw scored 14 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Faulkner had 10 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 4 blocks.

On Sunday the Generals bounced back dominating the Hawks 42-18 in the first half. The Generals turned in a solid second half to cruise to an 88-44 victory.

The Generals were once again led by Bradshaw, Howard and Faulkner. Bradshaw finished the night with 29 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals. Howard added 9 points and 15 rebounds. Faulkner went for 19 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 blocks and 2 steals. Ajla Sedjic added 9 points, 7 assists, 2 rebounds and 3 steals.

Head Coach Matt Hazzard noted, "after two straight losses, it can be easy to get down on yourself, but the team stepped up Sunday. We dialed it in for 40 minutes and played team basketball. It was an up and down week for us, but we had a lot of great things to take away from the week as a whole”.

 The Generals improve to 6-2 on the year and are back in action 12/1 against SUNY Adirondack.
