The General’s Cupboard at Herkimer College was the recipient of a recent sizable donation of food and personal care items from Amazon.

Amazon representative Mark Szkolnik coordinated the donation valued at approximately $1500. “We were able to shop for the items we needed on the Amazon app and provide Mark with our list. A few weeks later, he delivered the items, and our shelves are now filled with much-needed food and toiletries. On behalf of our students, we are very grateful for the generous donation,” said Generals Cupboard manager Paula Fallon.

Examples of items donated include cereal, pasta, sauce, peanut butter, jelly, granola bars, bottled water, toothbrushes, feminine hygiene products, and paper towels.

The General’s Cupboard exists to help all Herkimer College students in need regardless of income. The operation is run on donations with support from the Herkimer County College Foundation and several other organizations.

“So far this school year, we have had almost 600 visits to the General’s Cupboard, so the need is great. And the help is very much appreciated,” said Fallon.
