Former Herkimer Standout Greg Farone Drafted in Seventh Round by San Francisco Giants

Former Herkimer College standout left-handed pitcher Greg Farone has been selected in the seventh round of the MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants.

 

 

Farone becomes the highest MLB Draft selection for a Herkimer College player. This is the third consecutive MLB Draft and the seventh former Herkimer College athlete selected.

After his two-year career at Herkimer, Farone transferred to the University of Louisville, and recently to the University of Alabama, where he finished his collegiate career.

 

Farone was one of the most dominant pitchers in junior college history, setting the NJCAA record in 2022 with 2.32 strikeouts per inning. Farone finished his Herkimer career with a 13-0 record while striking out 213 batters over 103 innings pitched.

 

 

Farone was named the 2022 NJCAA Division III Pitcher of the Year, Most Valuable Player of the World Series, a 2022 First-Team NJCAA All-American, and the 2022 Region III Male Athlete of the Year.
