Generals bowl consistently to end the week

UTICA, NY – Having their second match in two days, the Herkimer Generals bowling team traveled to AMF Pin-O-Rama for a second time this season on Friday (2/6), finishing in fifth and fourth overall after three games each.

Standing out for the men with his third highest total of the season was Trevor Marston (Georgetown, NY). The sophomore bowled a 599 thanks to a 199 average, just below is match average of 202, which has him in the seventh spot on the conference, just 10 pins away from being in the Top 4 individually.

Behind Marston for a second consecutive match was Marshall Sterling (Mohawk, NY). The freshman averaged 153 on Friday, with a game-high 187, giving him 459 total. Sterling is 15 pins away from being in the Top 25.

Rounding out the match for the men was Eric Arthur (Remsen, NY), Stephen Cross (Ilion, NY), Ben Newman (Utica, NY), Philip Tanner (Deposit, NY) and Joseph Hilts (Marcy, NY). Arthur bowled a 424 (123, 144, 157), Cross bowled a 409 (147, 128, 134), Newman bowled a 401 (139, 114, 148), Tanner bowled a 380 (97, 101, 182) and Hilts bowled a 367 (134, 112, 121).

For the women, Herkimer saw Selena Barber (Mayfield, NY) and Jena Soper (Harrisville, NY) both bowl over 500 for the Generals. Barber led the way again with a 573, her best performance in conference play this season. The sophomore averaged 191 pins per game, 15 pins better than her season averaged 177.

As for Soper, her 508 was her best performance of the season, bowling a game-high 187 in her first game which helped to a 169 average.

Destiny LeRoy (Sodus, NY), Ashley Salisbury (Sherrill, NY), Alysha Buck (Syracuse, NY), Ronnie Hines (South Otselic, NY) and Caitlyn Frye (Broadalbin, NY) round out the Generals attack Friday. LeRoy bowled a 482 (177, 167, 138), Salisbury bowled a 462 (120, 176, 166), Buck bowled a 457 (153, 144, 160), Hines bowled a 409 (130, 148, 131) and Frye bowled a 336 (108, 91, 137).

Herkimer’s next match is on Thursday, February 12th at State Bowling Center in Ilion, NY. It’s the only match the Generals host this season. Games are scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
