#4 Lions net four goals in National Championship Game

HERKIMER, NY – Netting one goal in the first and three goals in the second half of Sunday’s (11/15) NJCAA DIII National Championship game at Wehrum Stadium helped #4 Nassau County defeat #8 Bunker Hill 4-0, ending the season on a six-game win streak.
Nassau (21-2-1) got the go ahead goal from captain Reece Dalton in the 35th minute after Frank Minton found him just outside the 18 from the right wing, blasting a shot with his right foot to the right side of the net for the 1-0 lead. It was Dalton’s 14th goal and Minton’s second assist of the season.
It remained that score into the half and until the 62nd minute when MVP Benjamin Alonge scored unassisted to make it 2-0. The sophomore forward got a 1-v-1 with the goalie and put away his 15th goal of the season. Just a few minutes later, Lions’ leading goal scorer Marvin Eveillard made it 3-0 when he headed in a Dylan Drasin cross from the left side for his 35th of the year, finishing second in the nation I goals scored in 2015.
Giving Nassau the 4-0 lead was Franky Villegas. The sophomore connected with Eveillard for his 10th goal of the season in the 88th minute to seal the victory.
In goal for Nassau was Andrew Laclaustra and Paul Daly. Laclaustra got the start and saved one shot in the first half. As for Daly, he too got one save in 45 minutes of work, all in the second half.
