SCHENECTADY, NY – Starting off the New Year with a road game against conference foe Schenectady on Saturday (1/16), the Herkimer Generals women’s basketball team defeated the Royals on their home court 66-51 to improve their conference record to 3-2.

Herkimer (7-6, 3-2) didn’t shoot the ball well, but was active on the glass, collecting a season-high 59 rebounds. Leading the team in that category was Khristaijah Jackson (Philadelphia, PA). The freshman gathered 20 rebounds, 13 offensive and seven defensive, on her way to 26 points. Jackson has been on a tear as of late, averaging 27 points per game.

Joining Jackson in double figures in the win was Emerald Pett (Utica, NY) and Angela Porcelli (Marlboro, NY). Pett finished the game with 13 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks. Porcelli had 12 points, three rebounds and two steals.

The Generals will end their three game away stand on Wednesday (1/20) when the team hosts North Country in the varsity gym at 5 p.m. The Saints are one game under .500, and losers of their last three games, falling to Schenectady most recently 62-61.
