Generals Dominate Conference Rival MVCC

Wednesday afternoon the Herkimer Men’s Soccer team traveled to Utica, NY to face off against their Mountain Valley Conference Rival the Hawks of Mohawk Valley Community College. It didn’t take long for Herkimer to make their mark as the first goal, scored by #8 Jordan Saling (Haledon, NJ) assisted by #23 Gianni Cognata (Cape Coral, FL), was netted just five minutes into the game. Saling had the hot foot at the start of this game as he scored another just six minutes later from a feed by his captain #11 Eddie Speed (Chester, England). The score remained 2-0 for the majority of the first half until sophomore #10 Dajhal Kelly (Saint Kitts, Caribbean Sea) worked around two defenders and found his way to the upper 90. The first half ended with Herkimer tacking another one on the board from an unassisted goal scored by #32 Issak Somow (Utica, NY) which left the score 4-0 at the half.
Kelly caught the hot foot in the second half as he started off the second 45 minutes scoring two goals back to back both assisted by #13 Camilo Avendano. Mohawk Valley united in the last minutes of the game as they refused the shutout scoring one goal leaving the score 6-1.
