Herkimer Over Hawks

Wednesday afternoon the Herkimer Generals Women’s Soccer team traveled to Utica, NY to face off against their conference rivals the Mohawk Valley Community College Hawks.  It was freshman #13 Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY) with the hot foot tonight as she scored three out of the five Herkimer goals.  Blumenstock’s first goal came from a feed by sophomore midfielder #10 Grace Johnson (Tully, NY).  Another Tully native #9 Jenna Bailey was able to find Blumenstock for an assist on her second goal.  Herkimer only needed those two to win the game because Mohawk Valley only produced one goal on the day, unassisted from Victoria Wyman just 13 minutes into the second half.  However Herkimer didn’t settle for just two.  Generals’ freshman defender #15 Hannah Taylor (St. Johnsville) was able to find the back of the net on her own shortly after the goal by the Hawks.  But that wasn’t the last of it for the Generals.  Herkimer tacked on two more by the end of the game.  Blumenstock scored her third goal from an assist by her former high school teammate #12 Saige Hampston.  Lastly Herkimer’s #2 Alexis Ramos (Utica, NY) scored the final goal for the Generals, assisted by #18 Leann Clark making the final score 5-1.
