Blumenstock and Connolly named Green & Gold Athlete of the Month

Herkimer College Green & Gold Athletes for the month of September are women’s soccer forward Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY) and men’s soccer goalie Sean Connolly (Latham, NY).

Blumenstock, a freshman Criminal Justice major, is the Generals’ top scorer and third in Region III with 25 goals. She also holds first place on the Region III leaderboard for shot percentage with 6.250, and first in the region for game winning goals with nine. She was named Region III Athlete of the Week and NJCAA Division III Player of the Week. Acting Head Coach Jason Palkovic said, “Mikki has filled in exceptionally well as our leading scorer and has adjusted to the college game quite nicely. She is proving she is one of the top forwards on the national level as a freshman.”

Captain of the men’s soccer team, Connolly is a sophomore General Studies major. He has produced 40 saves in 13 games resulting in a save percentage of .930, and he is first on the Region III leaderboard with 13 wins. Last week, Connolly was named NJCAA Region III Goalie of the Week.
