Generals Overtake Cannoneers
The Herkimer Generals Women’s Soccer team traveled to Jefferson CC to face off versus the Cannoneers last Wednesday (10/12). Herkimer came home with the win defeating Jefferson 4-0. Most of the first half was held at a stalemate until Herkimer General #7 Jenna Rogers (Port Leyden, NY) scored from an assist by #8 Alexis Hufnagel (Liberty, NY). This became the only goal of the first half. Rogers returned from halftime with the hot foot and put the ball in the net again just three minutes into the second half from an assist by #10 Grace Johnson (Tully, NY). Rogers finished her reign of the afternoon assisting Herkimer’s top scorer #13 Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY) in the Generals’ third goal of the game at the 76th minute. With just 90 seconds left in the match, the final goal was produced by #3 Alyse Griffin (Camden, NY) from a feed by #12 Saige Hampston (Poland, NY) which brought the final score to 4-0, Herkimer.
