Herkimer Men's Soccer wins Season Opener

Herkimer, NY - The Herkimer Generals Men's Soccer team opened the 2018 season with a 4-0 over # 7 Ocean County College (NJ) in the Herkimer College Coliseum Kickoff Classic at Wehrum Stadium. Coach Pepe Aragon starts his 21st season at the helm with a preseason ranking of #3 in the NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer Poll.

The Generals scored all 4 of their goals in the first half and cruised in the second half to the victory. Freshman Shemar Blair (Brampton, Ontario) opened the scoring with a goal 5 minutes into the game to give Herkimer a lead they would never relinquish. Mupenzi Irakiza (Syracuse, NY), Chris Capaldo (Smithtown, NY) and Riley Urie (West Glover, VT) each added a first half goal to complete the scoring for the Generals. Aubrey Lowe (Toronto, Ontario) and Stian Klausen (Oslo, Norway) split time in goal for Herkimer to earn the shutout win.

Next up for Herkimer is on Sunday at the Coliseum Classic to take another nationally ranked team, the #6 Bunker Hill Bulldogs (MA). Game time is set for 4:45 PM.
