Message to our campus community regarding the Coronavirus

We are closely monitoring the recent outbreak of a 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China. This novel coronavirus is a respiratory tract illness that presents flu-like symptoms. It was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, and has spread to several countries, including five confirmed cases in the US.

Symptoms of the novel coronavirus include coughing, difficulty breathing, and fever (which may be mild or not present in all cases). Individuals who have recently traveled to Wuhan or have had recent exposure to someone with recent travel to Wuhan or a confirmed case of Coronavirus may be at risk.

Based on current information, the risk to New York residents is considered low. For the latest updates on 2019-nCoV, visit the CDC website.

If you experience symptoms and believe you are at risk due to recent travel or exposure, please visit the Dean of Students Office in CA 264 or email deanofstudents@herkimer.edu or call 315-866-0300 ext. 8276.

Herkimer College is in close communication with the State University of New York and will continue to monitor the situation, and take all necessary steps to keep our campus community informed and safe.
