Former Generals soccer keeper wins Canadian Premier League Championship

CHARLOTTETOWN, CANADA–Former Herkimer all-American goalkeeper Triston Henry won his second consecutive Canadian Premier League Championship this past weekend.

Henry, the starting keeper for Forge FC, defeated HFX Wanderers 2-0 to capture the title. With the win, Forge FC earned a berth in the 2021 CONCACAF league where they will take on Municipal Limeño of El Salvador in the tournament’s preliminary round on October 20. Should Forge prevail over Municipal Limeño, they will meet Tauro FC of Panama in the round of 16 in the first week of November.

Henry, a 6’0, 170-pound native of Scarborough, Ontario, won back-to-back national championships with the Generals in 2012 and 2013. Henry was a two-time NSCAA all-American recording 29 shutouts in his two seasons. He spent one season at the University of Connecticut in 2014 before transferring to NCAA Division I Quinnipiac University appearing in 18 games and registering 65 saves with a 1.27 GAA.
