Herkimer College Promotes Four Faculty Members

Four Herkimer College faculty members were recently approved for promotion by the College Board of Trustees.

Rabab Hassan has been promoted from assistant professor to associate professor of Electrical Technology. Hassan joined the faculty as an assistant professor in 2019, teaching multiple topic areas in the Electrical Technology A.A.S. program, including renewable/clean energy and power systems applications.

Hassan was an electrical engineer for the Mansoura for Resins and Chemical Industries Co. in Egypt and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the National Society of Black Engineers, and the Society of Women Engineers. She is a member of Eta Kappa Nu, the IEEE’s international honor society, and has a special interest in renewable energy—especially solar and wind—microgrids, and distributed generation. Hassan holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Power Engineering from the University of Mansoura, Egypt, and a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University.

Jennifer Herzog has been promoted from associate professor to professor of Biology. Herzog joined the faculty in 2001 and currently teaches microbiology and biology courses. She holds two master’s degrees from the Yale University School of Medicine where she studied the pathogenesis of Kaposi’s Sarcoma Herpesvirus (KSHV) and a bachelor’s degree from Utica College. Herzog is also the director of the Herkimer College Honors Program. She was recognized with the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2014.

John McLean, Ph.D. has been promoted to professor of Social Science. McLean joined the faculty in 2009 and currently teaches social science courses. McLean holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy with European History and a master’s degree in philosophy with a concentration in European History from the University of Buffalo. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in history from St. John Fisher University.

Lindsey Taube has been promoted to professor of Mathematics. Taube joined the faculty in 2007 as a math specialist in the College Learning Center. She became a math instructor in 2013 and was promoted to assistant professor in 2015 and associate professor in 2019. Taube holds a master’s degree in mathematics, adolescent education with a minor in music from Nazareth College. She continued her education at Utica University where she earned a master’s degree in Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Taube is an active member and representative in the New York States Mathematics Association of Two-Year Colleges.
