Herkimer College Announces Important Dates and Information for New Students

Herkimer College announces the new student welcome schedule for the fall 2024 semester.

Wednesday, August 14 two virtual information sessions take place at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. with new commuter and residential students required to attend one session. Students will receive an overview of what to expect at the upcoming orientation and need-to-know information to prepare for arrival on campus.

Wednesday, August 21 new online students will attend one of two virtual orientations held at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. These sessions will cover everything online students need to know for a successful semester, including an overview of programs and platforms, including Microsoft Teams, Office 365, MyHerkimer, and Generals Online (GO).

Saturday, August 24 new residential students will move in to on-campus housing.

Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25 is new student orientation weekend for all new commuter and residential students. Topics covered include what to expect going into the year ahead, what is expected of students, the importance of the syllabus, best practices to prepare for class, helpful resources, and tips and tricks students can utilize. Students bringing their class schedules can learn where their classes will be held during campus tours.

Additional highlights include a cookout and welcome picnic. Cookout with Campo Saturday, August 24 at 7 p.m. provides an opportunity for students to meet Campus Safety staff and enjoy music, hamburgers, hot dogs, and kickball. The welcome picnic Sunday, August 25 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. offers music, food, games, and a variety of activities for students.
