McAvoy, Henry and Calderon among 2013 NJCAA All-Americans

HERKIMER, NY – Yesterday three Men's Soccer players were awarded All-American status in the NJCAA Division III. They were defender Peter McAvoy (Dundee, Scotland), goalie Triston Henry (Scarborough, Ont.) and midfielder Jimmy Calderon (New Rochelle, NY).

Placed on the first team was McAvoy and Henry. McAvoy scored a team-high 15 goals in 2013, three coming in the National Championship tournament. All gave his team the lead in each game. Henry had 13 shutouts in 2013, getting his final shutout against Suffolk County Community College in the National Championship game (1-0), played at Wehrum Stadium. Henry finished the season allowing only four goals, but saving 61.

Making it to the second team was Calderon. In 18 games Calderon amassed one goal and seven assists, playing both outside midfielder positions for the Generals.

Herkimer finished the 2013 season on an 11-game win streak, helping the team to its third consecutive NJCAA DIII National Championship. The Generals Head Coach is Pepe Aragon. Aragon in 16 seasons has a 297-27-1 overall record, 16 consecutive Region III Championships and seven National Championships.
