Generals unable to build on strong first half against Spartans

AUBURN, NY – Despite leading the Cayuga Spartans by seven after intermission on Monday (1/19), the Herkimer Generals women’s basketball team was unable to get the win on the road, losing 67-59.

Herkimer (5-10, 2-5) couldn’t stop Cayuga’s Maxine Williams, allowing the guard to collect 25 points and 14 rebounds. Williams was one of two Spartans to score in double figures.

As for the Generals, they had three player score in double figures; Emily Rexford (Canton, NY), Kristy Wallace (Frankfort, NY) and Raven Griffin (Syracuse, NY). Rexford had 13 and both Wallace and Griffin had 12.

Herkimer’s next game is Wednesday (1/22). They’ll face North County Community College who is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation, winning all 15 games played in this season. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
