# 1 Herkimer defeats SUNY Adirondack 8-0

Herkimer, NY - It was a good day all around for the Herkimer Generals Women's Soccer team. 

It started this afternoon when the Generals earned the # 1 ranking in the first NJCAA Division III Women's Soccer Poll of the regular season. It ended with a big 8-0 win over SUNY Adirondack in the Mountain Valley Conference opener for both teams. The win moved the Generals to a record of 4-0 on the season.

Freshman Kristen Purcell (Sauquoit, NY) kept up her torrid scoring pace by scoring three goals on the evening against the Timberwolves. Senior Sarah George (Dolgeville, NY) was right behind Purcell with two goals and three assists in the game. Seniors Haley Harrington (Munnsville, NY) and Caira Miles ( Little Falls, NY) each scored a goal and Freshman Emile Swank ( St. Johnsville, NY) tallied to close out the Herkimer scoring. All 8 goals were scored in the first half as the Generals cruised to the easy win.

Next up for Herkimer is their first road contest of the 2018 season, as they get a week off before traveling to Dryden, NY to take the Tompkins-Cortland Panthers on Wednesday afternoon, Sept 12. Game time is set for 4:00 PM.
