Generals go 2-1 in National Tournament, advance to play in National Quarterfinal on Saturday

Syracuse, NY - Staring down elimination and down to their final three outs, the Herkimer Generals staged a dramatic rally to stay alive at the Division III Softball National Championships at Carrier Park in Syracuse, NY.

After dropping their opener to #6 College of Dupage by a score of 7-4, the #3 seeded Generals found themselves down 6-2 against #7 Suffolk CCC going into the bottom of the 7th before they kept their championship hopes alive with a 5 run rally to come back and beat the Sharks 7-6 to advance to Friday's next round of the double elimination tournament. The win lifted the Generals record to 23-5 on the season.

The Generals will now face #4 North Dakota SCS at 10:00 AM in Syracuse in win or go home game. A win would send Herkimer to a 2:00 elimination game on Friday against the winner of College of Dupage and #5 Rowan Gloucester. The winner of that 2:00 game would advance to Saturday's National Semifinal vs the loser of today's game vs #1 Rock Valley and #2 Corning.

UPDATED: The Generals score 4 in the top of the 7th to defeat #4 North Dakota SCS 11-10 on Friday to advance to the National Quarterfinals. Due to weather, that game has been moved to Saturday, May 29 at 11:00 AM. The winner of that game will play the loser of #1 Rock Valley/#2 Corning in a National Semifinal on Saturday afternoon at 3:00 PM. The Rock Valley vs Corning game has also been moved to Saturday due to weather. That game will be played at 1:00 PM.
