POLICY STATEMENT:  It is the policy of the Herkimer County Community College Board of Trustees that the Board will designate a committee to review and select individuals who have made substantial contributions to Herkimer County Community College’s development, for recognition on the Torchbearer’s Award wall.  The Herkimer County Community College Board of Trustees will have the final approval of the class selected.  A ceremony to recognize the individuals who will be added to the Torchbearer Award wall will take place every five years.

BACKGROUND:  At the March 20, 2003, Herkimer County Community College Board of Trustees meeting, it was suggested a policy be written to review the process and make decisions about individuals who should receive the Torchbearer Award.  The first Torchbearer Awards ceremony was held on June 21, 1999.
