Herkimer, N.Y. - The #3 Herkimer Generals hosted the #1 ranked team in the country the Genesee Cougars Saturday. It took about 16 minutes for the high powered Generals offense to get started but once it did they didn’t slow up.  Jenna Rogers (Port Leyden, NY) put Herkimer on the board first with an assist from Mikayla Blumenstock (Poland, NY).  Rogers put a well placed shot over the Genesee keeper. Just under 2 minutes later Sarah George (Dolgeville, NY) would find Haley Harrington (Munnsville, NY) who would strike a driven ball that a Genesee defender couldn’t clear to put Herkimer up 2-0.  Another 2 minutes later, Maddie Renshaw (Herkimer, NY) took a defender on from the outside and eventually dribbled in alone slotting a ball home past the keeper for a 3-0 lead. Blumenstock, the region’s leading goal scorer, would add to her total in the 22nd minute as Hailey Couchman (Baldwinsville, NY) provided a great ball off a free kick for her to finish. 14 minutes later the duo would connect again giving Blumenstock her 23rd goal of the year. Blumenstock would return the favor and setup Couchman for the last goal of the half and the game off a quick give go for a 6-0 score line.

Rachel Todd (McGraw, NY) and Honesti Crochran (Wingdale, NY) held the Cougars in check securing the shutout. The Generals move to 12-1 and host Jefferson Wednesday at 7:00.
