Herkimer Women's Soccer holds off Onondaga CC

Herkimer, NY - Sarah George (Dolgeville, NY) scored two goals and Maddie Renshaw (Herkimer, NY) and Haley Harrington (Munnsville, NY) scored one goal each as the Herkimer Generals Women's Soccer team defeated the Onondaga Lazers by a score of 4-1 on Thursday night at Wehrum Stadium. The win moves the Generals, who are ranked # 2 in the NJCAA Division III National Poll, to a record of 3-0 on the young season.

Freshman Kristen Purcell (Sauquoit, NY) assisted on both of George's goals while sophomores Alexis Romeyn (St. Johnsville, NY) and Alyse Griffin (Camden, NY) added assists in the win. After the teams traded goals in the first ten minutes, Renshaw scored the goal that gave the Generals the lead for good. George's first goal gave Herkimer a 3-1 lead at the half and her second goal with 6 minutes left in the game clinched the win. 

The Generals get six days off before hosting SUNY Adirondack on Wednesday, Sept 5th. The women will play the second game of the men's/women's double header with game time set for 7:00 PM.
