Herkimer softball player Melissa Daigneault earns NJCAA Division III First Team All-American honor

HERKIMER, NY—Herkimer Generals softball player Melissa Daigneault (North Greenbush, NY) was recently named to the 2021 NJCAA Division III All American First Team.

Daigneault was a big part of the Generals team that went 25-6 in 2021 and won the Mountain Valley Conference and Region IIIB Championships.

Daigneault, a freshman outfielder, hit .344 with two home runs and 32 RBI’s on the season. She also tallied eight doubles, three triples, and five stolen bases while only striking out three times in 100 plate appearances. She had an on-base percentage of .380 and a slugging percentage of .559 for the season.

Daigneault led the Generals to a third place finish at the 2021 NJCAA Division III National Championships, held at Carrier Park in Syracuse, NY. It was the eighth straight time Herkimer College has finished third or higher at the National Championships since 2013.
