Herkimer Men’s Soccer Moves to 2-0 With Win Over Finger Lakes Lakers
Herkimer, NY – The #2 nationally ranked Generals beat Finger Lakes CC 13-1 on Saturday. Eight different players found the back of the net. Sophomore Kyle Middleton (Dundee, Scotland) opened up the scoring in the 17th minute off an assist from sophomore Ali Somow (Utica, NY). Sophomore Nichlas Kamfjord (Sandnes, Norway) scored the second goal of the game two minutes later off an assist from freshman Jon Sandvik (Skien, Norway). Kamfjord scored his second goal of the game ten minutes later in the 29th minute off an assist from sophomore Yamato Fujishima (Saitama City, Japan). Middleton scored the fourth goal of the game off an assist from Kamfjord in the 31st minute. Fujishima scored two minutes later off an assist from sophomore Jay Amour (Swansea, Wales). Somow finished off the scoring in the first half (40th minute) off an assist from Sandvik.
Freshman Sora Wantanabe (Aichi, Japan) opened up the second half with a goal one minute into the second half off an assist from sophomore Heath Lucas (Chazy, NY). Sophomore Shiko Ichimiya (Tokyo, Japan) found the back of the net in the 57th minute off an assist from freshman Wilman Miranda (Mamaroneck, NY). Freshman Suleiman Abukar (Utica, NY) scored his first goal of the game in the 63rd minute unassisted. Wantanabe scored his second goal of the match in the 72nd minute off an assist from Miranda. Abukar scored his second goal of the game off an assist from Wantanabe one minute later. Ichimiya scored his second goal of the match off an assist from sophomore Kane Fisher (Chesterfield, England) in the 77th minute. Miranda finished the scoring in the 80th minute off an assist from Ichimiya.
Freshman goalkeeper Cathal Carney (Springfield, Massachusetts) recorded two saves in the first half. Sophomore keeper Jon Bovair (Canastota, NY) finished the second half with two saves.
The Generals return to action on Thursday where they host Ulster CCC at 4:00pm at Wehrum Stadium.
