Polk MVC Player of the Year

HERKIMER, NY – For a consecutive season, the Herkimer Generals men’s soccer team had a player earn conference player of the year honors. The 2014 recipient was sophomore forward Ben Polk.

Polk, a resident of Banbury, UK led the nation in goals for most of the season, recording 31 in 16 games during the regular season. He was held scoreless in only one game, accumulating four hat tricks and 11 multi-goal performances against regional competition.

Polk had a season-high five goals against Clinton Community College in September, only playing in the first half, managing a hat trick within the first four minutes of the game. Finally, Polk was also Top 10 in the nation in game-winners during the regular season, accumulating seven.

“Ben is a tremendous finisher with exceptional speed, strength and skill,” said Head Men’s Soccer Coach Pepe Aragon. “He helped our offense become something special during the regular season!”
