HERKIMER, NY – Herkimer Generals men’s soccer player Ben Polk was named Region III Player of the Year in November, helping his team to their 25th consecutive regional championship.

Polk, a Liberal Arts & Sciences: Generals Studies major at Herkimer College, scored the game-winner against Finger Lakes and Genesee in the Region III semifinals and finals, helping the sophomore to 31 goals and the top spot in the national in scoring. Polk’s goals helped the Generals outscore the Lakers and Cougars a combined 10-to-0.

“Ben is an unbelievable goal scorer,” said Head Men’s Soccer Coach Pepe Aragon. “The kid really has it all. Speed, strength and skill! Added to this he’s a class act, both on and off the field.”
