HERKIMER, NY – Peter McAvoy Night is back this Wednesday (10/7) when the #5 Herkimer Generals men’s soccer team hosts conference rival Mohawk Valley at 7 p.m.

Herkimer will wear white celtic jerseys to remember their fallen captain, but will also be selling shirts in his memory with all proceeds going to Cardiac Risk in the Young. Order forms will be available at the entrance of Wehrum Stadium.

Also in attendance will be the Coliseum Celtic FC U-10 and U-11 teams. Both teams will join the Hawks and Generals for the national anthem at midfield, then play each other at intermission.

Peter McAvoy (Dundee, Scotland) passed away April (2014) of a heart ailment. The 2013 National Player of the Year scored the game-winning goal in each game of the NJCAA DIII National Tournament helping the program to its third consecutive national title. Ironically McAvoy also wore jersey #4 which resulted in a #4Pete social media campaign (#4Pete asked supporters all over the world to take a photo with four fingers held up, then post it to their social media profiles) as the team prepared for the 2014 season, looking to four-peat for the first time in the history of the program.
