Connolly, Kelly and Speed Named to the NJCAA All-America Team

Herkimer, NY – Herkimer College men’s soccer players Sean Connolly (Latham, NY), Dajhal Kelly (Saint Kitts, Caribbean Sea) and Eddie Speed (Chester, England) have been named to the NJCAA All-America team. Connolly and Kelly were named to the first team and Speed to the second. Goalkeeper Connolly had a 0.67 GAA and recorded 10 shutouts for the season. He was named NJCAA Division III National Player of the Week for the week of September 26.  Connolly was also selected to the All-Region III first team. “Sean had a tremendous season for us this year,”said Coach Pepe Aragon. He certainly controlled his penalty area with his 6’4 frame and was a very vocal leader for us.”

Kelly was the team’s leading goal scorer with 21 goals and 5 assists as a forward.  He was named Mountain Valley Conference co-Player of the Yearand first team All-Region III. Kelly was also named Region III Most Valuable Player of the Region III A tournamentand NJCAA Division III National Player of the Week for the week of August 22. “Dajhal is an explosive goal scorer with great skill and vision,”said Aragon. He is strong as well and scored some big goals for us this year.”

Defensive central midfielder and right back, Speed had two goals and four assists. He was named co-Player of the Year alongside Kelly for the Mountain Valley Conference, and first team All-Region III. “Eddie is a tremendous athlete with an unbelievable work rate,” said Aragon. He can play numerous positions and play all of them great as he did for us this season. All three players have great futures at the next level. They are great leaders both on and off of the field.”
