Herkimer Men's Soccer beats # 6 Bunker Hill 5-0

Herkimer, NY - Taking on their second nationally ranked opponent in as many days, the Herkimer Generals Men's Soccer team defeated # 6 Bunker Hill CC (MA) by a score of 5-0 on Sunday afternoon in the second day of the 2018 Coliseum Kickoff Classic at Wehrum Stadium. The Generals, ranked # 3 in the NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer Pre-season Poll, improved to 2-0 on the season and beat the #6 and # 7 teams in the country by a combined score of 9-0 over the weekend.

In Sunday's game, Herkimer Freshman Shemar Blair (Brampton, Ontario) got the Generals off to a great start by scoring the first two goals of the game midway through the first half. Sophomore Diego Bastone (Fishkill, NY) and Freshman Jaahdel Cyril (Bridgeport, CT) added goals later in the first half to give Herkimer a 4-0 halftime lead. Freshman Tokiwa Yoshida (Hiroshima, Japan) completed the scoring on the evening for the Generals with a goal late in the second half. Stian Klausen (Oslo, Norway) and Aubrey Lowe (Toronto, Ontario) shared the duties in goal for Herkimer once again, giving the Generals the second straight shutout to start the year.

The # 3 Generals are back in action on Thursday night, August 30th as they host their third straight nationally ranked team to start the season as # 9 Onondaga travels to Wehrum Stadium to take on Herkimer. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
